Active living is essential for physical and mental health at every stage of life. I have championed active recreational amenities across Huntsville, making sure our youth and seniors have high-quality, accessible options.
Key Recreational Priorities:
- World-Class Pump Track & Mountain Bike Trails: I have a plan for a world-class pump track, a smaller track for junior and adaptive riders, as well as mountain bike trails — all within Huntsville’s urban core.What is a pump track? A looping circuit of smooth rolling bumps and banked corners that riders travel by pumping their body up and down rather than pedalling. It works for bikes, scooters, skateboards and wheelchairs, suits every age and skill level, and needs no supervision or booking. See one in action →
- Pickleball & Developer Amenities: Championing pickleball courts and requiring new housing developments to include recreational amenities so these costs aren’t placed solely on taxpayers.
- Youth Outdoor Space: Huntsville needs more outdoor opportunities for our young people — additional basketball facilities, a long-awaited splash pad, and a permanent home for our outdoor skating rink.
