I was born in Cape Breton, but Huntsville has been home since I arrived here in Grade 11 in 1992. Other than short periods away for post-secondary education and travel, I have spent my entire adult life and working career in this community.

A Life Built Here
Huntsville is where I built my career, owned and managed local businesses, raised my two children and built a life with my wife of 21 years. My children are now both preparing to head off to post-secondary school, but Huntsville will always be the place our family calls home.
My professional career has been spent almost entirely in leadership and ownership roles. Most recently, I owned Coldwell Banker Thompson Real Estate for 15 years before selling the business in 2022, just as the last municipal election was getting underway.
My connection to Huntsville, however, has always extended well beyond business.
Long before I entered municipal politics, I served on numerous community boards, committees and task forces. I also spent many years coaching youth sports, leading close to 20 teams across three different sports before my children aged out.
Those experiences allowed me to meet families from every part of our community and develop a deeper understanding of the fabric of Huntsville — what people value, what they worry about and what they need from their local government.
In 2022, I decided it was time to take everything I had learned through more than 30 years of living, working, volunteering and raising a family here and put it fully into serving our community. I ran for Town and District Council and was honoured to top the polls.
From my first day on Council, I focused on the issues that have the greatest impact on people’s day-to-day lives: healthcare, housing, affordability, responsible government and getting better value for every taxpayer dollar. Whenever possible, I looked for creative ways to make a meaningful difference without adding costs to the tax levy.
In Just One Term
Created Huntsville’s highly successful doctor recruitment incentive program, which has helped recruit 9 new family doctors to our community, with our 10th close to signing.
Initiated the development of an Affordable Housing Action Plan to turn discussion about housing into meaningful action.
Championed reforms to the planning process designed to reduce unnecessary delays and red tape, make housing more affordable and help residents navigate Town Hall more efficiently.
Led the effort to create an election sign bylaw limiting campaign signs to private property, helping protect public spaces and keep our community looking its best.
Identified the significant amount Muskoka taxpayers were contributing to subsidize the Muskoka Airport and introduced a motion to establish a more sustainable, business-focused direction. That work is already producing positive results.
These accomplishments were achieved as one member of Council — and they represent only part of the work I have undertaken. Several other important initiatives are already underway, and I would welcome the opportunity to finish what I have started.
I believe I can accomplish even more as Mayor by providing the leadership needed to bring people together, challenge the status quo and turn good ideas into results.
I love Huntsville and everything that makes it special.
I want to protect the character of our community while ensuring it remains a place where families can afford to live, businesses can succeed, young people can build a future and residents receive real value from their local government.
That is why I am running for Mayor.
