About Me

My background includes both public service and business leadership. It has given me firsthand experience navigating the complexities of municipal decision-making and managing financial resources responsibly.

Throughout my career, I have been known as someone who gets things done! I focus on solving problems, developing creative, practical solutions, and working collaboratively with others. Most importantly, I have a track record of turning ideas into results.

My first term on Council has also been characterized by listening to our community, being transparent and accountable, and restoring trust in local government.

It’s about putting experience into action and delivering for our community.

The Platform

Six Priorities for Huntsville

My platform is built on delivering tangible, practical solutions to the issues that affect Huntsville families every day.

The Next Big Thing

A New Vision for Downtown Huntsville

Brendale Square is one of the greatest opportunities we have to transform downtown — new housing and commercial development alongside more parking, recreation, green space and a vibrant public gathering place designed around the people who live here.

And the vacant Empire lot at Centre and Main has been an eyesore for far too long. Instead of accepting that for another decade, there’s a practical, affordable way to turn it into something our downtown can be proud of.

The objective: a transformational downtown project with minimal — and potentially zero — municipal capital cost to the taxpayer, funded through private partnership, senior-government grants, community fundraising and donated labour.

Action Over Words

A History of Standing Up for Taxpayers

I don’t just talk about savings and governance. Over the last term I voted against council raises, pushed back on staffing expansions, and spearheaded innovations that make our town work smarter.

Recruited 9 New Family Doctors — 10th Close Behind

Created the doctor recruitment incentive program — a 4-year goal of 10 doctors, all but complete in just 2 years, without costing property taxpayers a dime on the levy.

Rejected Proposed 48% Council Pay Raise

The only finance/corporate services member (of seven) to vote against; pushed to have the raise pulled and voted on separately at full district council.

Scrutiny & Reform of Muskoka Airport

Identified $1.6M+ taxpayer subsidy; pivoted to creating a municipal services corporation with a skills-based board to reduce subsidy and move toward break-even budgeting.

Eliminating Redundancies & Duplication

Presented a report proposing a thorough review of the development process, including potential elimination of upper-tier planning and downloading district roads.
